A crazy way to split logs!

Want to see a crazy way of splitting a log? Then check out the British TV series “Kevin McCloud’s Man Made Home“, Series 1. This series sees British designer and television presenter Kevin McCloud building a sustainable eco-friendly shed in the woods. In the first episode he fells two large oak trees and splits them using explosives, a technique sometimes called “explosive resawing”, or black-powder log splitting..

Apparently this technique was used historically in North America  to deal with the massive trees found on the west coast, because there was no other means of splitting the massive logs, i.e. no machinery.
